October Fun Diving Week – Sunrise

🌊 Holding Down the Fort: October Fun Diving & Maintenance Week at Sunrise Resort!

Dates: Tuesday, October 27th – Friday, October 30th

Location: Sunrise Resort, Hood Canal (24520 US-101, Hoodsport, WA 98548)

Type: No-Training Week – Fun Diving Only!

Shawn and Diana are out of town, so I’m holding down the fort at Sunrise Resort! I’ll be taking care of the property and running diver services from Tuesday, October 27th through Friday, October 30th.

This is strictly a no-training week, meaning it’s all about fun diving, hanging out, and enjoying the water together.

What’s on the Agenda?

• Underwater Park Work: I’ll be spending time diving and working on enhancements to our underwater park. Come check out the progress, explore the site layout, and enjoy the playground we’ve been shaping beneath the surface!
• Deep Boat Checks: I’ll also be heading down to the 170-foot and 180-foot depths to check on the boats.

Important Logistics & Tank Status

• Compressor Status: We are currently unclear on the status of the resort compressor. Until we have a confirmed update, please bring extra cylinders or plan to hit up YSS for your tank fills. I’ll keep this page updated as soon as details change!
• Resort Amenities: Please note that resort amenities are currently limited while Shawn and Diana are away and the property continues its mid-remodel updates. Plan accordingly for your surface intervals and meals.

Conditions & What to Bring

• Conditions: Expect the classic, crisp Hood Canal jade pulse—serene, beautiful, and teeming with Pacific Northwest marine life.
• Exposure Gear: Water temperatures will be brisk this time of year, so make sure to bring appropriate thermal protection (drysuits or thick wetsuits, hoods, and gloves) to stay comfortable on those longer or deeper fun dives.
• What You Might See: Keep an eye out for vibrant sea life nestled along the wrecks, unique structure in the park, and the incredible visibility and tranquility that makes the Hood Canal the cradle of Pacific Northwest diving.
