August Search and Recovery Training

Behind the Badge: Spartan SCUBA and CCSO Search & Recovery (SAR)
On Sunday, August 16th, the Spartan SCUBA & Dive Team will be heading out for a dedicated Search & Recovery training evolution under the auspices of our partnership with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
Many people don’t realize that the Spartan SCUBA crew actually makes up the bulk of the CCSO SAR dive team. When the call goes out, we are the team heading into the water. Public safety and black-water recovery operations demand absolute precision, and this training ensures our divers remain razor-sharp and prepared for the zero-visibility challenges of our local Pacific Northwest waters.
Our commitment to carrying this shield and answering the call comes down to a few immutable principles:
- Bringing Closure: To stand ready in the darkest hours, providing answers and closure to families who have experienced unimaginable loss.
- Securing Evidence: To utilize advanced technical diving skills to locate and retrieve critical evidence that has been cast into Davey Jones’ Locker, ensuring justice is served.
- Stewardship & Duty: To step up, master a difficult skill set, and simply be good people who serve the community when it matters most.
🚨 Answer the Call: Join the Team
We actively recruit all year long for the SAR team. While we only officially onboard and add new members to the roster at the beginning of the year, the evaluation and connection process starts now.
If you’ve ever wondered if you have what it takes to do real-world, active community service underwater, don’t just guess—come find out. We welcome qualified divers to come out to a training session, meet the crew, and see exactly what SAR diving looks like firsthand.
