Cressi is in the house!

This just in…

Spartan SCUBA is Cressi official!

If you haven’t heard of Cressi before, it’s most likely because they have very little representation in this area. Some of that is because of their online presence at the giant conglomerates that provide ZERO diver support if there’s ever and issue, but mostly it’s because out here in the PNW another general SCUBA supply company has a massive corner on the market. I won’t mention this other company, but I will say that in terms of gear selection, these two companies are fairly similar. Regulators? Check. BCD’s?? Check-check. Wetsuits, booties, masks, fins, and snorkels??? Super big CHECK!

Yes, yes, I know… Cressi products are made in Italy and shipped to the US. So what? The other big company’s stuff is made in China and also shipped to the US.

You know what else Cressi has? Spear guns. I don’t kill stuff under water, but I know other people are into that sort of thing, so I’ll provide where I can.

What about their regulators? Well, they consistently pop up on the recommended list for cold water diving. Their top regs are all CE certified for cold water diving below 10° C/50° F. Pretty impressive when you consider and compare the price point to other popular brands. There’s also some fairly impressive similarities in product. Take a look at these two images, with the brand names of the comps obscured, of course. I don’t need to be sued for calling people out.

I don’t mean to point out the obvious here, but 5 LP ports on a swiveling turret, 2 HP ports, piston style first stage that although is not environmentally sealed is CE certified for use below 50° F? And, just a little piece of trivia here, they both have “25” in their nomenclature. Just sayin’!

The point, if there is one to make, is that when you have plenty of SCUBA choices out there in the world, going with the products made in the same country that gave us Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, and pizza doesn’t seem like a bad way to go. And you ALL know how I feel about pizza!

Go ahead and give a look HERE. See something you like? Let us know. If we don’t have it already, we will soon.

Welcome to the Spartan family, Cressi. We’re happy to be aboard!

Dr Eric "Doc" Strand

After being injured in the line of duty while serving in the Marines, SSGT Strand transitioned to Dr. Strand, and spent the next 25 years practicing medicine, dedicating his time and energy to bringing better health and enlightenment to the community he served. After learning to dive with his family, he quickly felt a growing passion for the underwater world: the peace and tranquility was greater than any form of meditation he'd ever tried. SCUBA diving became the hobby at first, then moved slowly into the next, and hopefully last profession. A published author and poet, Doc's passion for creativity coupled with his experiences and travels abroad impact not only his writing style, but also his passion for life, teaching, SCUBA diving, and medicine.
