SCUBA Discovery (Limited to 2 students)\n\nStart Time: 4:30 PM at the shop\nSchedule: We will begin at the dive shop to cover basic SCUBA academics\, gear familiarization\, and fitting before heading over to the pool at approximately 6:30 PM.\n\n2. Open Water SCUBA Diver (Limited to 4 students)\n\nSchedule: Open Water students will coordinate directly with their individual instructor(s). While the site itself is fully diveable and ready for action\, amenities on-site are still being built out. Because of this\, we highly recommend booking a room for the night so you can roll out of bed\, smash out an early morning couple of dives\, and avoid that dreadful dark-and-early Sunday drive! \n\n⏰ Schedule of Events\n\n08:00 AM – Meet\, greet\, assemble gear\, and unpack tailgate-style.\n09:00 AM – First splash! Briefings wrap up\, and the first wave hits the water.\n09:00 AM – 04:00 PM – Continuous dive operations! Hit the water\, offgas with a hot beverage\, swap stories\, and jump back in for round two (or three!).\n04:00 PM – Dive ops wrap up for the day.\nBonus: Monday Dives? There’s a possible chance for 1–2 informal dives on Monday morning for those staying over\, but no promises—let’s see how the tides and weather treat us!\n\n👯 Buddy System & Requirements\nSafety and fun go hand-in-hand. Earning this rating authorizes you to independently conduct the SDI Instructor Development Course (IDC)\, teach Non-Diving Specialty Instructor courses\, and shape the next generation of dive educators. \nWhy do your Course Director with Spartan SCUBA?\n\nThe “Doc” Premium: This program is personally directed by Dr. Eric Strand (“Doc”)—an Instructor Trainer with 30 years of medical expertise\, military leadership instruction\, public safety diving mastery\, and thousands of technical cold-water dives. Spartan SCUBA & Dive Team is hosting an elite\, hybrid-format SDI Course Director course in February 2027. Earning this rating authorizes you to independently conduct the SDI Instructor Development Course (IDC)\, teach Non-Diving Specialty Instructor courses\, and shape the next generation of dive educators. \nWhy do your Course Director with Spartan SCUBA?\n\nThe “Doc” Premium: This program is personally directed by Dr. Eric Strand (“Doc”)—an Instructor Trainer with 30 years of medical expertise\, military leadership instruction\, public safety diving mastery\, and thousands of technical cold-water dives. You are paying for elite mentorship\, not a rubber stamp.\nThe Pacific Northwest Advantage: True leadership is forged in demanding\, heavy-exposure environments. By mastering student management and evaluation in the cold waters of the PNW\, you prove you can comfortably run an IDC anywhere on the planet.\nFlexible Schedule: Complete the vast majority of your core lectures\, academic presentations\, and standards reviews via interactive online video sessions around your busy schedule.\n\nEvent Schedule & Format\n\nFebruary 1-28 (Online Hybrid): Live interactive video sessions covering Methods of Instruction\, Risk Management\, and the Business of Diving.\nPractical Weekend (In-Person): Flawless demonstration-quality skill evaluations\, physical stamina watermanship trials\, and your final academic presentations conducted on-site at Sunrise Resort on Hood Canal. Please note that your final academic presentation must be delivered in person.\n\nPricing & Registration\nOur tuition is straightforward and all-inclusive of your materials\, personalized mentoring\, and Sunrise facility fees (assuming booking in dorm with the Spartan Dive Team – private rooming is at extra cost)—leaving only your final HQ registration fee and personal air fills out of pocket. \nThere is a $100 application fee (non-refundable) which becomes part of the total course fee if accepted into the current class.
