SUMMARY:Clear Lake Diving - July
DESCRIPTION:The Clear Lake Diving Expedition: Bucket Lists and Sub-Arctic Thermoclines\nSome lakes are for casual splashing\, while others are for testing the structural integrity of your thermal undergarments and your mental fortitude. Clear Lake stands out as a premier destination for divers looking for an unforgettable adventure\, filled with rich aquatic life and stunning scenery. The lake’s unique geological features and crystal-clear waters provide a rare opportunity to witness underwater ecosystems like few others. This is the latter\, and it promises an experience that goes beyond mere recreation. For those seeking excitement\, clear lake diving offers a chance to explore one of the most beautiful diving spots around. \nJoin us on Sunday\, July 19th\, 2026\, as the incomparable Reverend Randell leads a convoy of hearty Oregon lake-divers to Clear Lake near Sisters\, Oregon. For many PNW divers\, Clear Lake is an absolute ‘bucket list’ destination due to its jaw-dropping\, crystal-clear visibility and diverse underwater environments. With depths that reveal fascinating geological formations\, divers can explore rock formations\, submerged trees\, and an array of fish species such as trout and bass. However\, let’s be perfectly direct: this dive is not for the faint of heart\, or the easily chilled. This lake offers a thrilling and challenging experience\, ideal for seasoned divers looking to expand their horizons. \nWhether you’re a novice or a seasoned pro\, clear lake diving is an adventure you won’t want to miss. The thrill of navigating through the depths of Clear Lake adds a unique element to your diving experience. \nThere is no cozy\, warm surface layer here to ease you into the experience. The temperature profile shifts rapidly from cold to much colder\, to an immediate holy shit\, that’s cold! Wetsuits are strictly not recommended for this environment. This is a job for a well-insulated drysuit or an organic layer of instant blubber. Those who wish to dive in these conditions should prepare their gear accordingly and be mentally ready for the temperature shock. Bring additional thermal layers to wear under your drysuit\, as they will help keep you warm during your dives. If you want to see the stunning underwater clarity without your teeth chattering through your regulator\, dress for absolute success. \nPlease also note that you must ensure that your first and second stage regulators are certified for cold water use. This is not your grandma’s tropical jaunt off the coast of Playa del Everywhere in Mexico! Using equipment designed for warmer climates could lead to serious malfunctions or issues under these colder conditions\, so make sure to check with your local dive shop if you’re unsure about the specifications of your gear. \nThe Master Schedule for Clear Lake Diving\n\n0700 Hours – Encampment & Arrival: The Reverend will be on-site early to secure our staging area and parking. Arrive at 0700 sharp to claim your spot\, set up your gear\, and mentally prepare for the thermocline.\nThe Midday Thaw (The Wiener Roast): Because you will desperately need to replace lost body heat after logging some bottom time\, the Rev’s griddle is officially back in play. We are providing high-quality sausages and brats for lunch\, alongside plenty of drinks.\n1500 Hours – The Pack Out: We will have the trucks loaded and be ready to roll back down the mountain by three in the afternoon.\n\nThe Dive Plan: Exploring Clear Lake’s Underwater Wonderland\nThe Reverend will be personally leading two distinct guided dives to showcase the best of this volcanic wonder. This is a standard “two-tank” dive day\, but you are welcome to splash as many times as you and your buddy want\, provided you are diving within your training\, certification levels\, and gas reserves. The morning dive will take you to explore the northern section of the lake\, which is known for its dramatic underwater landscapes. The second dive will venture into the southern part\, where visibility can sometimes exceed 50 feet\, allowing divers to witness the vibrant life that thrives in these pristine waters. \nThis clear lake diving experience will allow you to see the stunning underwater clarity that sets Clear Lake apart from other diving locations. \nSpartan SCUBA will have our standard full suite of on-site emergency resources and dive professionals on the shoreline to handle logistics\, offer equipment assistance\, or just hand you a hot bratwurst when you crawl out of the water. Our team is dedicated to ensuring your safety and comfort throughout the day. In addition to emergency gear\, we also provide access to pre adventure equipment rentals and post dive air fills if needed. Be sure to communicate with our team if you require assistance at any point during your dives. \nWhen you dive with us\, you can expect the best support for your clear lake diving adventure\, including professional guidance and safety measures. \nLogistics\, Costs\, and Admin\nAdmission to this premium mountain excursion is $50 per diver. Your fee gets you top-tier Spartan logistics support\, hot lunch\, and your choice of: \nOur event is designed for anyone interested in clear lake diving\, creating a community atmosphere for all participants. \n\nTwo (2) air-fills at Spartan HQ ahead of Sunday if you are using your own tanks.\nA chance to connect with fellow divers and share stories\, experiences\, and tips about diving. Creating a community atmosphere is one of the goals of this event\, making it not just a dive trip but a chance to forge lasting friendships.\nAccess to post-dive briefings where divers can discuss their experiences and share tips on improving dive techniques. This is a great opportunity to learn from each other and enhance your skills.\nA guided tour of the unique underwater features of Clear Lake by our experienced dive instructors. They will share insights into the lake’s ecosystem and dive safety tips\, ensuring you have a safe and educational experience.\nTwo (2) tank rentals for the day\, provided by the shop.\n\nNote: To keep Sunday afternoon relaxed\, all rental cylinders are due back at the Spartan shop the following day\, Monday\, July 20th. \nPrepare yourself for an exhilarating experience in clear lake diving\, where every dive brings new discoveries. \nThe Fine Print: \n\nFees: Admission does not include travel or individual parking/day-use fees at Clear Lake. Handle your own vehicle passes to ensure your arrival and parking are smooth. It’s wise to carpool where possible\, as space can be limited during busy periods.\nPaperwork: No waiver\, no bubbles. All divers must complete the SDI Liability Waiver for Guided Dives before touching the water.\n\nCheck your drysuit valves\, double up on your fleece layers\, and get ready for an incredible diving adventure. As we embark on this unforgettable journey into the depths of Clear Lake\, don’t forget to soak in the breathtaking scenery both underwater and above. This trip promises to check a major dive off the bucket list while making memories to last a lifetime. Dive into the adventure and join us for some exceptional clear lake diving! \nJoin us and experience the joy of clear lake diving\, a truly unforgettable adventure that promises to check a major dive off your bucket list. \nThis is also a great opportunity to attain your dry suit certification and save on gear rentals. If you sign up to challenge the SDI Dry Suit course with us at this event\, not only will you save on the price of your course\, but you’re dry suit rental will be included at no charge! For more details on the Spartan SCUBA Dry Suit course\, please follow this link. To purchase\, simply select the “Dry Suit Add-On Course” to your Clear Lake ticket (both are required)\, and we’ll take care of the rest.

SUMMARY:IEC - Saturday\, July 18th
DESCRIPTION:What’s Happening at the Facility: IDC & IEC Sessions\nEver wonder what goes into training the next generation of scuba professionals? \nRight now\, we are running our Instructor Development Course (IDC) and Instructor Evaluation Course (IEC). These sessions aren’t open for registration—our current candidates are already deep in the zone—but we wanted to give a quick behind-the-scenes look at what these dedicated divers are tackling. \nThe Path to Becoming an Instructor\nReaching the IDC/IEC level takes immense commitment\, sharp focus\, and a lot of logged time underwater. \n\nThe IDC is where experienced divers transition into educators. It focuses on mastering dive theory\, learning how to deliver crisp classroom presentations\, and perfecting the art of teaching skills in both confined and open water.\nThe IEC is the final evaluation phase. This is the ultimate test where an independent evaluator assesses the candidates to ensure their teaching ability\, rescue skills\, and safety standards are absolutely flawless.\n\nIt is rigorous\, challenging\, and incredibly rewarding. \nWhy We Train SDI Instructors\nWe choose to train instructors through Scuba Diving International (SDI) because we believe it creates the best educators in the industry. \nSDI revolutionized dive training by introducing the “Instructor Led” philosophy. Instead of forcing students into a rigid\, cookie-cutter box\, SDI empowers its instructors to adapt courses to the local environment and the unique needs of individual students. It prioritizes practical\, real-world diving skills—like teaching buoyancy and trim right from day one—rather than outdated\, knees-on-the-bottom drills. \nBeing an SDI Instructor means having the flexibility to teach creatively\, the support of a forward-thinking organization\, and the privilege of minting confident\, capable\, and safe divers. \nHuge respect to our candidates putting in the work right now to earn their stripes. Stay tuned as they close in on the finish line!

SUMMARY:Timothy Lake Ascent
DESCRIPTION:The Timothy Lake Ascent: Tanks\, Tubes\, and Tubed Meats\nThey say a bad day of diving is better than a good day at work\, but they usually say that while shivering in a flooded drysuit because they forgot their zipper wax. We are here to ensure your next dive day is actually good. \nJoin us on Monday\, July 13th\, 2026\, for a mountain dive adventure to Timothy Lake on Mount Hood. This single-day operation will be spearheaded by the man\, the myth\, the butcher shop legend: the incomparable Reverend Randell. If you have ever wanted to dive under the watchful eye of a man who can simultaneously bless your soul and grill a flawless bratwurst\, this is your moment. \nThe Master Schedule (Subject to Pacific Northwest Weather Whims)\n\n0700 Hours – The Gathering: Reverend Randell will be on-site\, parked\, and likely questioning his life choices by seven in the morning. Arrive early\, find the Spartan SCUBA banner\, and begin the sacred ritual of checking your gear bag for the one crucial item you inevitably left on your garage floor.\nThe Midday Intermission: Once we’ve logged some bottom time\, the shop griddle will be fired up. We are providing high-quality sausages and brats to fuel your second-half metabolism. Hydration will be managed via pure water and a calculated surplus of crisp Topo Chico.\n1500 Hours – The Evacuation: We will be packed up\, accounted for\, and rolling back down the mountain by three in the afternoon.\n\nThe Altitude Adjustment & Dive Plan\nLet’s talk geography. Timothy Lake sits at approximately 3\,200 feet above sea level. Yes\, that means this is officially an altitude dive. Because we prefer our divers properly decompressed and un-bent\, all participants are strictly required to dive with a Personal Dive Computer (PDC). Don’t panic if you haven’t looked at your computer’s altitude settings since your last pool session; the Spartan SCUBA leadership team will be on-site to help you “dial in” your PDC and ensure your profiles are calculated safely for the mountain environment. \nBeyond that\, this is a “two-tank” dive day. You are entirely welcome to grab any certified diver you can cajole into a buddy check and explore the submerged timber. For those concerned about safety—or those who simply lack a reliable underwater compass sense—the Spartan SCUBA crew has you covered. The shop is providing on-site emergency resources alongside our roster of seasoned dive professionals. We will be available to lead tours\, assist with complex equipment configurations\, or just stand on the shoreline offering constructive sarcasm while you try to don your fins. \nLogistics\, Costs\, and Admin (The Boring but Important Parts)\nAdmission to this mountain excursion is a flat $25 per diver. Your entry fee explicitly includes your choice of the following options from the mothership: \n\nTwo (2) air-fills at Spartan SCUBA ahead of the trip if you are utilizing your own cylinders.\nTwo (2) tank rentals for the day\, provided by the shop.\n\nTo make gear management painless\, we are offering special pickup hours on Sunday afternoon for anyone signing up. We will coordinate these times with each of you individually so you can grab your tanks and fills without a Saturday rush. \nNote: If you are renting shop steel or aluminum\, all rental equipment must be returned to the shop that afternoon before the shop closes at 1800. \nThe Fine Print: \n\nFees: Parking and day-use fees at Timothy Lake are up to the individual. Bring your pass or digital payment.\nPaperwork: Before you touch the water\, you must complete the SDI Liability Waiver for Guided Dives. No waiver\, no bubbles.\n\nSecure your spot\, log your fills\, and let’s go find out what the Reverend can do with a griddle. \nSpecial note: if you would like to achieve the Altitude Diver specialty rating at this event\, please add the Certification Upgrade ticket and we’ll put you on the training list! SUMMARY:Sunrise - Park Work Overnighter
DESCRIPTION:Sunrise – Park Work Overnighter\nIf you are ready to trade the standard weekend reef crawl for a purpose-driven trip focused on technical mastery and conservation\, it is time to pack your gear for the Sunrise – Park Work Overnighter. Starting Thursday afternoon\, June 18th\, through the morning of Saturday\, June 20th\, the Spartan Scuba dive team is heading back to Hood Canal for a two-night operational stay. We are dedicating this trip to building\, maintaining\, and expanding the premier Hood Canal underwater dive park that we have the privilege of developing and stewarding. \nThis is a roll-up-your-sleeves event combining the thrill of technical scuba diving PNW style with professional underwater site management. We will be logging multiple work dives on Thursday and Friday to shift heavy marine structures and modify the site. \nThe Prerequisites & Gear\nBecause safety and precision are paramount when executing underwater construction\, any divers wishing to assist with physical park tasks must be self-sufficient and meet the following standards: \n\nLift Bag Proficiency: Completely comfortable independently operating a lift bag on items up to 60 pounds.\nRedundant Gas: Must carry an extra sling/stage/bail-out bottle dedicated strictly for lift bag inflation.\nRentals: The Spartan Scuba dive team has core gear and drysuits available for rent at the shop\, but we do not rent lift bags or sling/stage bottles for operational work.\n\nLodging & Amenities\nWe are staying on-site at Sunrise Resort\, which means we get to take full advantage of their top-tier amenities. Expect on-site air fills\, dedicated gear rinse stations\, and a functional hot tub for that crucial post-dive thaw after a hard day of underwater labor. \nReady to log some serious quality bottom time and help build a world-class training site? Check out the official Sunrise Resort Website for location details\, or head straight to our Spartan Sunrise Page to secure your spot for this overnighter!

SUMMARY:Hood Canal Underwater Dive Park
DESCRIPTION:Heavy Lifting & Emerald Water: Join the Hood Canal Underwater Dive Park Development Team\nIf you are ready to trade the standard weekend reef crawl for a purpose-driven day of technical mastery and conservation\, it is time to pack your gear because we are assembling the crew for the Heavy Lifting & Emerald Water: Join the Hood Canal Underwater Dive Park Development Team initiative. On Tuesday\, June 16th\, the Spartan Scuba dive team is heading north for a dedicated operational day focused on building\, maintaining\, and expanding the premier local diving attraction that we have the absolute privilege of developing and stewarding. \nThis isn’t your average recreational splash; this is a roll-up-your-sleeves\, check-your-gas-management\, and work-the-site kind of day. For those who love the sport\, there is nothing quite like looking back at a pristine\, well-mapped underwater playground and knowing your own fins helped kick the dust off it. We are diving with a purpose\, combining the pure thrill of technical scuba diving in the PNW with the professional discipline required to manage a thriving underwater dive park. \nSpartan Temple\nThe Operational Profile: What to Expect\nWe run a tight ship\, which means the day starts early. We will be rolling out from the shop at 04:45 AM sharp. The early morning drive gives us the perfect opportunity to prep our minds for the day’s tasks\, map out the team objectives\, and secure that mandatory morning caffeine. \nOnce we arrive on-site\, the mission dictates the schedule. Depending on the depth profiles\, water temperatures\, and individual bottom times of our tasks\, we are looking to log anywhere from 2 to 6 dives. Because this is an active development and maintenance day\, our footprint will be dynamic. We are not running a formal training class\, nor are we offering guided tours for this specific outing. However\, if you are an experienced diver who wants to log some serious quality bottom time\, see what goes into underwater site management\, and lend a hand with the park work\, you are more than welcome to join the crew! \nRigorous Standards: Required Skills & Gear\nBecause we are actively modifying structures and shifting heavy marine materials\, safety and precision are our absolute highest priorities. If you plan to assist with the physical site development tasks\, we ask that you meet the following baseline competencies and gear configurations: \n\nLift Bag Proficiency: Divers helping with heavy structural work must be completely comfortable and proficient independently operating a lift bag on items weighing up to 60 pounds. Buoyancy control and situational awareness while managing an ascending load must be second nature.\nRedundant Gas/Sling Bottles: To ensure your primary breathing gas remains strictly untouched for work tasks\, all participating divers must carry an extra sling/stage/bail-out bottle dedicated specifically for lift bag inflation and utility use.\nSelf-Sufficiency: You must bring your own fully redundant kit suited for cold-water work environments.\n\n\nA Note on Equipment Rentals: Spartan Scuba has a robust fleet of standard rental equipment available at the shop if you need to rent a drysuit\, core regulators\, or standard cylinders for the day. However\, please note that we do not rent out lift bags\, sling bottles\, stage systems\, or specialized bailout bottles for this type of operational work. Divers must source or own their technical utility gear. \n\nWhy We Steward the Canal\nOur local waters hold a majestic\, moody beauty that rivals any tropical destination\, but maintaining a world-class training and recreation site requires constant effort. By volunteering your time or simply coming out to support the park\, you are directly contributing to the local diving infrastructure. It’s an exceptional way to sharpen your technical task-loading skills under the supervision of seasoned pros\, all while hanging out with a community that takes diving seriously—but never forgets to have fun doing it. \nThe Logistics at a Glance\n\n\nDeparture: 04:45 AM from the Spartan Scuba shop. \n\n\nOn-Site Location: Sunrise Resort on Hood Canal. \n\n\nThe Perks: Sunrise offers top-tier amenities to keep us comfortable between rotations\, including on-site air fills\, dedicated gear rinse stations\, and a functional hot tub for that crucial post-dive thaw. \n\n\nThe Reward: Once the tools are stowed and the trucks are loaded\, we will be making our traditional pit stop on the drive home for a well-earned\, massive team feast to celebrate a solid day of underwater labor. \n\n\nReady to see what goes on behind the scenes of your favorite local site? Click over to the official Sunrise Resort Website to check out the facility amenities\, or head straight to our dedicated Spartan Sunrise Page to RSVP\, coordinate carpooling\, and let us know you’re coming out to splash with us!
